From healthcare automation to global trading platforms—each step taught me lessons that benefit your project
NHS & Early Development
In my first job at the NHS, I developed an app that automated hours of manual data entry—measuring hospital treatments and operations against provider contracts. Even then, I was entrepreneurial and loved building apps to solve inefficiencies.
What This Means for You
I don't just code to spec—I think about the bigger picture and find opportunities to add value to your business through automation and efficiency.
Trading Floor & Financial Systems
I sat on the EuroBond trading desk working with bond traders, developing the features they needed to do their jobs. I also built a loan collateral management system for George Soros as part of the bank's tech portfolio. This taught me how to translate domain expertise into working software.
What This Means for You
I listen, understand your domain, and build solutions that solve real problems—not just features on a roadmap.
Dot-com Boom & Sports Tech
During the late 1990s dot-com boom, I worked at a Sports.com integrating games and content into websites for top European football teams. To teach myself Java, I built my own Football Manager online strategy game—and eventually sold it to my employer who wanted to add it to their content network.
What This Means for You
I'm self-driven and love building products. I see opportunities others miss and bring entrepreneurial thinking to every project.
From Solo Consultant to 14-Person Agency
After the dot-com crash in 2000, I started my own consultancy with capital from selling my game. I consulted for Nokia and Symbian on mobile apps, wrote chapters for Symbian books, and built demo applications.
This turned into an agency when I was asked to rebuild an auction platform. Once complete, we started working with machinery dealers, not-for-profits running $1M+ auctions, and eventually cornered the market in specialty coffee auctions—working with the world's best producers to sell high-quality, low-volume coffee to global buyers.
I won an Innovate UK grant to develop the platform into an online trading platform and worked with the UN's International Trade Centre to help East African farmers access global markets.
What This Means for You
I've built and scaled businesses from scratch. I understand what it takes to go from consultant to agency, from MVP to market leader.
What I Learned from Closing My Agency
I closed my company two years ago after making strategic errors that led to heavy losses. After 23 years running a company with legacy tech and managing up to 14 people, those mistakes taught me invaluable lessons about what works and what doesn't when scaling a tech business.
What This Means for You
I help founders make smarter decisions about tech stack, scaling, and focusing on what moves the needle—lessons I learned the hard way so you don't have to.
The Perfect Intersection
After spending 23 years with legacy tech, No Code and AI-assisted development offers the perfect intersection of creativity, commercial awareness, and technical execution. It's refreshing to step outside the old box into something that lets me focus on solving problems and taking products to market—not just managing infrastructure.
What This Means for You
Lower costs, faster time-to-market, and the ability to test ideas without massive upfront investment—while maintaining quality and flexibility.
When you work with Orzo Blue, you're not just hiring a developer—you're partnering with someone who understands the founder journey because I've lived it.
I speak your language—the language of founders, not just developers
I understand the trade-offs between speed, cost, and quality
I know when to build custom and when to use off-the-shelf
I've built systems across industries from healthcare to global trade
